Riggs Halloween Spooktacular
My family has never been "big"on Halloween but it never gets completely neglected. This year Halloween really creeped up on me and I woke up on Monday morning realizing Hugh and I hadn't eaten one piece of Halloween candy, carved a single pumpkin, gone to any parties, etc. Uncool. I set out to fix that and Hugh graciously humored me. It wasn't much, but it made the day actually feel like a holiday.

Sweet, sweet liberation
A lot of you heard already but those who didn't last week Tuesday we found maggots crawling up out of our carpet and in our living room. SO disturbing. Especially because I found them while I was lying on the floor exercising and happened to look to my side and see something white wiggling up out of the carpet by my head. Cue lots of (what I think to be) well deserved panicked outbursts such as, "oh, oh, oh, OH, why is this happening to me," and so on. Needless to say once I found one they just kept comin'. I felt really uncomfortable in my own home and had to wear shoes everywhere. Hugh was much more brave than I but whatever. Over the weekend we took a trip up to Pasadena to see everyone, especially Elizabeth, but mostly for my sanity's sake and to get our vacuum so I could go back to San Diego and suck up all those stupid buggers. After finding only a couple live ones on Monday and a thorough vacuuming I am now happy to report that the maggots are gone!......probably because they have all turned into flies now who have in turn laid more babies in my apartment......but until I find them I'M FREE!!
Happy Wednesday World!

OH boy

Hugh woke me up this morning by telling me we were going to exercise....... I've been wanting to start exercising again for quite some time, but today when it actually happened I wasn't as excited as I should have been. It has now been a few hours since the embarrassing scene and my body is in pain, but I'm planning on doing it again tomorrow. Here's to looking really hot.

Happy (late) Fathers Day. . .
These are cake burgers with brownie centers and sugar cookie fries! BAH!I was down in Utah for my cousin Emily's wedding this past weekend and just got home this afternoon. I had a whole fathers day post planned but I was without a computer, so today will have to do.
First to my Papa: You truely are my hero. Thank you for all you do for our country and for our family. I couldn't ask for a better dad. Love you because I just do. Quack Quack.

To Brent: Thank you for being my second dad. You have made me feel like your daughter since the first time I came to visit. Love you! I tried to find a Star Craft cake....and failed. So here is a Halo cake :)

Let them eat cake!
So almost every morning I start off my day with a bowl of cereal while I look at ......cakes. Yep. I like to look at cakes online and today I thought "Emily, why don't you share some of those cakes with those who love you?" Ok great! Well here goes.
*ok so I started compiling some of my favorites….and there were just too many, so I’m going to break them into groups and do multiple posts. PLUS today is Cleo’s birthday! In honor of that I
will be posting what I think to be the cutest cakes. . . and also the ones that I think Cleo will like :)

Me and the Rexburg Police Department....
Are at odds. On Monday I got a parking ticket for parking on a "yellow curb marked clearly through." Well, I just didn't agree with that at all so today during my free time I contested it down at the police station. This is a picture of the curb where I parked.
When I went to the station the woman behind the desk pulled up my ticket and said "you're going to have to pay the ticket, this is clearly a yellow curb." Right. So I asked to see the picture the officer had taken and she brought me back behind her office to take a look. The picture was no better than mine. I told her this curb is not maintained at all and I shouldn't have to pay this ticket. Then she goes on to tell me that the curb will be painted soon. Really? Because in the past four years that I have lived here that curb has ALWAYS looked that way, and people park there all the time. Painted soon my foot. I wish I could tell you that I wan't paying the ticket, but I have to and I'm not happy about it. However, I did write a letter to the city saying that if they want people to pay their tickets they need to maintain their curbs, and that it is completely ridiculous that I recieved a ticket for parking where I did.

Lets not get too hasty....
While I completely agree that the death of Osama bin Laden is an incaluable victory for the United States and the world I cannot agree with some of the reactions I have heard in reference to his death. Last night Hugh and I were looking on facebook at all the comments about bin Laden and I came across one that my friend had written tha said something along the lines of, "Please send our troops home!! Thank you for your service." Yes, it is a nice sentiment, but how ignorant! To think that the whole purpose of sending our men, woman, fathers, and mothers over to the Middle East just to find and kill Osama bin Laden. Well now that we've done that everything is going to be fine...right? How long do you think it will be until many more people attempt to rise up and fill his shoes, in the meantime taking innocent lives? All I'm saying is, let's not get too hasty. Let's not forget that what our servicemen and woman are doing in the Middle East is much more far reaching than catching bin Laden. They still need all our support and prayers to continue the freedom giving service they are rendering to all of us. God bless the USA.
