Pasadena Chalk Festival

This past Sunday Hugh and I went to the annual Pasadena Chalk Festival. I was hoping to see more 3-D artwork but it was still pretty awesome. Here's some (probably more than you want) pictures, and sorry in advance for some of the bad sun and shadows!

Chalk Proposal :)

I loved comparing the original picture to the final product. Here is one artist in action.

Aren't these incredible!?!

Adventures

Last weekend Hugh, Carla, and I drove to the Parker's home in Mesa. Because they're moving again Ginger made the really awesome decision to not haul her baby stuff over to Boston and gave it to us instead! .....No, this is not an announcement. Thanks to Ginger Hugh and I now own a crib and basically all other baby furniture necessities. We had to rent a Budget truck to get it all back and for some reason the 16' truck was cheaper than the 10' so we got the big honker instead. Since there was a ton of extra room we snagged a couch and two chairs too! Now we just need a house to put everything in and a baby to utilize it. Hmmmm. It was a short trip but a really fun and productive one.

Wind farms on the way to Arizona. There were so many of these things it seemed other worldly.
Our nephew Henry! This pictures reminds me of our other nephew Milo.

Today Hugh and I went to the Huntington Gardens, one of my favorite places in California. The Japanese Garden reopened today and the Rose Garden was in total bloom. Hugh didn't let me take any pictures of him, but here are some of me that he took.

Yoga poses seemed fitting in the Japanese Garden.
I probably shouldn't post this video of me because it is really incriminating, but it is a good insider look into how our relationship works :)

These Banzai trees in the Japanese Garden were pretty incredible, but I mostly took the pictures for my parents. They get a kick out of them.

And our lovelies!

The pretty face I wake up to every morning.

Until next time! Loves and Hugs.

Long Time No Blog

We're alive!! For those who don't know Hugh and I currently live with Hugh's parents in Pasadena California. Hugh had a part time job working at an accounting firm in LA county, they needed an extra set of hands during busy season. Now that taxes are sent in we're out of a job and on the hunt for a new one. Always an adventure.

While Hugh is at work I spend most of my time with the cats and chickens. It's really not as dull as you might think, our particular chickens and cats never fail to entertain and everyday when Hugh comes home I have plenty of stories to share. Pearl and Isis (the cats) have an interesting relationship. Pearl is more like a puppy, she snores (loudly) which wakes me up in the middle of the night and she has an uncanny ability to snuggle herself right in-between my legs or on top of my shins. She sleeps with her tongue out, which I find adorable :), if left alone for more than an minute she will start to meow and meow and meow until one of us calls to her, and she loves to play fetch with her string more than anything else in the world. Seriously, this cat is strange. Isis is fatter, older, more lazy, and she has a pretty low tolerance for Pearl's shenanigans. As a result Isis will usually walk straight up to Pearl and whack her across the face a few times. It's hilarious. Are you fed up reading about cats? Are you even still reading? I don't have babies ok.
My daily routine.

Feel the love?

On Easter Sunday Hugh and I sand with our choir at a sunrise service at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Covina. We woke up at 3 AM Sunday morning, met our director at the park and ride at 4, and arrived at the cemetery at 4:45 AM to rehearse. Hugh sang "Were you there?" and it sounded gorgeous, of course, even at 6 in the morning. The sun came up half way through the service and the choir was facing directly at it. Despite being cold and blinded, it was a powerful and fantastic start to my Easter Sabbath.

We had to rush back to Pasadena to attend our own church meetings, where Hugh sang his solo again, which was gorgeous again, and then all the close-by Riggs came over for dinner and and egg hunt. Here are some pictures.

View from the cemetery at 4:45

Our venue. That's Hugh on the right, the moon up above, and the largest religious mosaic in the Western Hemisphere, measuring 172 feet by 35 feet in the middle.

Sometimes our pictures turn out nice.

But usually they end up like this!

We also went down to the casting pond a couple days ago with Charles, Laura, Ella, and Roger.

Did I marry a handsome man or what? I mean seriously.

p.s. I am by no means claiming to be a fancy photographer, I was just having some fun with our editing program. Love you all!
